How Do Robots Talk to Each Other?

Do robots speak English? Learn how machines communicate using invisible light and waves.

How Do Robots Talk to Each Other?

When you want to tell your friend a secret, you use your voice. But robots don’t have vocal cords. Instead, they talk using invisible waves in the air!

Robots use Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or Radio waves to send messages back and forth. For example, if you use a remote control to drive a toy car, the remote is flashing an invisible radio wave to the car’s antenna, yelling ‘GO FORWARD!’ in computer language (1s and 0s).

If you join a FIRST® Robotics team, you’ll learn how to connect your gamepads to a robot using these invisible radio signals to control its every move!
