Spindexer Science: Horizontal Designs
The Lazy Susan approach. How horizontal spindexers offer massive storage capacity for the DECODE artifacts.
Spindexer Science: Horizontal Designs
The “Spindexer” (Spinning Indexer) is the ultimate solution for high-volume games. The Horizontal design acts like a Lazy Susan for your robot.
How it Works
- Storage: A large, flat disc sits in the middle of your robot.
- Organization: The disc spins. As game pieces enter, they are swept into “pockets.”
- Feeding: The disc rotates to align a pocket with the shooter entrance.
The Pros
- Capacity: You can store 3, 4, or even 5 artifacts easily.
- Sorting: It naturally un-jams itself. If two artifacts come in at once, the spinning motion separates them.
The Cons
- Space: It eats up the ENTIRE center of your robot. You cannot fit a large turret or electronics board easily.
- Jamming: If an artifact gets stuck under the plate, your match is over.
Conclusion
Horizontal Spindexers are the Gold Standard for “Hoarding” games where you need to hold 5 objects. In DECODE, with a 9-artifact ramp limit but a 1-artifact hold limit, this might be overkill unless you are focusing on the “Secret Tunnel” transfer.
