Autonomous Optimization: Maximizing the 30-Second Start

Don't just park. A second-by-second breakdown of a winning 30-second Autonomous routine.

Autonomous Optimization: Maximizing the 30-Second Start

Autonomous is worth more points per second than TeleOp. If you aren’t scoring 40+ points in Auto, you aren’t winning.

T+0: The “Read” (0.5s)

Use OpenCv to detect the Team Prop on the Spike Marks. Do NOT move until you know where to go.

T+1: The “Spike” (3s)

Drive to the correct mark (Left/Center/Right). Place the purple Pixel.

  • Tip: Use odometry to ensure you don’t hit the prop.

T+5: The “Backdrop” (5s)

Drive to the backdrop. Place the Yellow Pixel in the corresponding slot. This completes a Mosaic. Big points.

T+10: The “Cycle” (15s)

Don’t stop. Drive to the stack. Intake 2 more pixels. Drive back. Score. Top teams do this 2 times (2+4 Auto).

T+28: The “Park” (2s)

Never miss the park. It is free points.

Conclusion

Every second counts. Optimize your paths. Smooth your acceleration curves. A jerky robot is a slow robot.
