Driver Feedback Systems: Rumble & LEDs
Your driver is blind. Use haptic feedback and LEDs to communicate crucial robot states.
Driver Feedback Systems
Your driver is looking at the field, 20 feet away. They cannot see your telemetry screen. They cannot see if the intake contains 1 pixel or 2.
1. Gamepad Rumble
Use gamepad.rumble(duration) to communicate:
- Short Pulse: “Intake Success” (I have the object).
- Long Pulse: “Endgame Warning” (30 seconds left).
- Double Pulse: “Target Lock Acquired” (Ready to fire).
2. LED Indicators
Put bright LED strips on your robot.
- Green: Targeted / Ready.
- Red: Jammed / Error.
- Blinking: Intake Active.
Why it Matters
It reduces Cognitive Load. Instead of guessing “Do I have the pixel?”, the driver feels it. This leads to faster, more confident driving.
